Colorful, miniature, and seemingly absolutely fairy-tale-like houses await you on Zlatá ulička in Prague Castle. Each of them is unique in its own way, and some have long been the subject of legends and mystical stories.
For example, house No. 13. They say it has a little window you can look into and end up in another reality. Most likely, this is just a loose interpretation of the novel "Golem," which describes a house at the end of Zlatá ulička, but who knows? What if something like that really does exist? In the magical atmosphere of old Prague, it is very hard to say anything for certain.
And Franz Kafka, who wrote his unusual works, lived right here - on Zlatá ulička. And do you know why it is "golden"? According to legend, all the city's jewelers and alchemists were settled here so that the king would always be aware of the "precious" news.
By the way, you do not have to buy a ticket to Zlatá ulička: after 6 p.m., you can enter it for free. The only catch is that many of the houses may already be closed. Still, most of them contain souvenir shops. You can buy anything here: dishes, coins, postcards, paintings by local artists, and even antique weapons. But many people prefer simply to stroll through the picturesque little lanes and take photos against the backdrop of the houses and flowerbeds.
