The main museum of the city of Ivanovo, where you can study in detail the history of the region's culture and industry, bears the name of its founder, Dmitry Gennadievich Burylin, a local manufacturer, public figure, and patron.
All his life he was passionate about collecting antiquities and rarities, and this extensive collection became the foundation of the museum, the building for which the industrialist constructed with his own money in 1912-1915. The design of the building in the neoclassical style was developed by architect Trubnikov, and the materials used for the construction were quite expensive: colored tiles, mosaics, and marble were delivered from Italy.
Today, the D.G. Burylin Museum of Industry and Art has an impressive collection of exhibits of various kinds. You will be able to see several hundred examples of edged and firearms from the 14th-20th centuries, military uniforms from different countries of the world - there is even 18th-century samurai armor here.
The exhibition "Nature of the Ivanovo Region" introduces visitors to the local flora and fauna in an accessible and engaging way. A magnificent selection of precious metal items and several other extremely interesting collections are also kept here.
