Dolmens by the Zhane River are located near picturesque waterfalls, on the bank of a swift mountain river. A whole complex of these mysterious structures made of multi-ton stone slabs has been preserved here.
Moreover, the local dolmens, apparently, belonged not to ordinary mountain dwellers, but to some leaders or kings of the ancient inhabitants of these mountains. What distinguishes them from the small houses traditional for these places are entire stone courtyards built in a circle in front of the entrance to the dolmen.
The main structure also has two side wings made of stone boulders and ornamental carvings on the facade. The zigzag symbols carved into the stone represent water - apparently, their creators worshipped this element. Most dolmens in these places are located as close to water as possible: in river valleys, by streams, closer to the sea.
Scientists still have not determined exactly what the purpose of such structures as dolmens was: they argue whether these were tombs or dwellings, or perhaps sanctuaries. At the dolmens by the Zhane River, signs of all of the above were found - there were human remains, as well as jewelry and dishes, and small altars with unknown symbols on the stones.
While scientists are making up their minds, people pass down old and new legends and beliefs by word of mouth. Mystical properties and powerful energy are attributed to the dolmens. That is why some come here to meditate while sitting on the ancient stones, others walk around the dolmen named «Garmoniya» three times in a circle to find harmony in life and love, and still others simply enjoy the setting and listen to the breath of millennia captured in stone.
