One of the most picturesque and remarkable places in Anapa is Boyevoy Slavy Square, which is located not far from the coast of Bolshaya Bukhta. The square was laid out in 2010, in honor of the 65th anniversary of the Great Victory; in area it occupies an entire city block. Previously, Pushkinsky Square stood on this site, but the municipality decided to improve it and create a memorial place dedicated to tragic events in the history of Russia.
In the square, you can see many monuments and sculptural compositions. On the mass grave of participants in the two world wars - the First and Second - there is an obelisk with the inscription "Glory to the heroes who gave their lives for the freedom and happiness of the people." On both sides stand statues of soldiers, one of whom is dressed in a greatcoat and a budenovka, while the second is wearing a rain cape and a side cap. At the center of the composition, an eternal flame burns.
Next you will see a monument dedicated to the revolutionary sailors, erected in honor of the crew of the gunboat called "Elpidifor-415," who died in battle with the French in 1921. There are also memorials here to the victims of political repression, monuments to Afghan war soldiers, and to soldiers who died in Chechnya.
Boyevoy Slavy Square is a pleasant and well-kept place. Residents of Anapa often visit it to take a walk and relax.
