One of the most unusual monuments in Perm is located near the old River Station, on the Kama embankment. It is not even a monument, but an art object that appeared here in 2009 as a result of the city's "cultural revolution," led by gallery owner Marat Gelman.
The large red letters "Happiness Is Just Around the Corner," nailed to the embankment parapet, visually resemble slogans from Soviet times. But this message has a beautiful meaning, symbolizing a person's hopes for happiness close at hand, rather than something like "The Five-Year Plan in Four Years" or "Glory to the CPSU."

The poignancy of this simple yet profound phrase has made it a popular spot for photo shoots. Who wouldn't want to capture themselves against the backdrop of these life-affirming words? There is even a kind of magic and positive energy in it: take a photo with words about happiness, and it will surely come.
The art object "Happiness Is Just Around the Corner" turned out to be just as vulnerable to threats as the real feeling. At one point vandals scribbled offensive words on it, and at another the particle "not" was broken off... But, "fortunately," there is always a patron willing to pay for the repair of this object, which has already become a new symbol of the city.
Interesting facts: this inscription became a feature of the film "The Geographer Drank His Globe Away," the TV series "Realnye patsany," and a Kanye West music video. And recently, an additional comment on the thesis by the River Station appeared near Perm: the same large red letters now declare that "Happiness Is Here," next to the country sanatorium Demidkovo.
