In the Pereslavsky District there is the village of Veskovo, where you can visit the very interesting and educational Museum of the History of Money “Monetny Dvor”. It is a private collection organized by local resident Aleksandr Altunin, who has been passionate about collecting numismatic valuables for more than forty years.
The museum is housed in a small house, but the impression of its size is deceptive, because it contains a grand collection of various coins and banknotes.
The museum’s exposition presents a beautifully systematized selection of means of payment that is impressive in its diversity, ranging from ancient times to the present day. Here you can see coins from different countries and historical eras. Ancient Greece and Byzantium, Medieval Europe, Ancient Rus, the Russian Empire — the collection presents an exceptionally broad overview of geography and history.
The museum has coins and banknotes, bonds and securities, and other materials. Everything connected with money, as well as orders and medals in a separate exposition. The collection also includes a modest collection of antique porcelain.
The Museum of the History of Money “Monetny Dvor” has not forgotten its youngest visitors either; they will surely be interested in seeing the exhibition of old Soviet toys.
