Fedorovsky Embankment is one of the most beautiful and pleasant places to relax in Nizhny Novgorod. Its location on the high riverbank allows you not only to take a walk, but also to enjoy the panorama of the city. Since 2008, everything here has looked especially well maintained: areas, stairways, and paths have been arranged, and flower beds and lawns have been laid out. You can relax on comfortable benches. It is especially beautiful here in the evening, when the lights come on and a romantic atmosphere settles in.
The development of the embankment began back in the 19th century, after the visit of Nicholas I, who was extremely dissatisfied that the city authorities were not paying enough attention to the improvement of Nizhny Novgorod. As a result, a plan was developed for laying out new descents and embankments. Architects I.E. Efimov and P.D. Gotman created the project according to which the then Upper Oka Embankment appeared.
The most significant changes here took place in the 1960s, when a hotel and residential buildings were constructed. In the opinion of the townspeople, this is still considered a mistake, since the city landscape was somewhat spoiled by the high-rises. At the same time, the embankment received its current name - Fedorovsky - in honor of the Russian scientist and mineralogist, one of the founders of Nizhny Novgorod State University.
