The Volgograd river port is considered the largest river terminal in Europe. Its dimensions are 296 m in length (almost like Red Square in Moscow), 36 m in width, and up to 47 m in height.
The river terminal was built in two stages: from 1967 to 1980, the main terminal buildings and a pier accommodating 6 motor ships at the same time were constructed. The waiting hall of the river port was then designed for 700 people. Another 9 years later, the Volgograd Central Concert Hall with 1000 seats appeared here. Since then, the river port has become not only a transport hub, but also a cultural center of the city's life.
Although river traffic nowadays is not as lively as it was in the 80s, the port of Volgograd still performs its direct functions. During the navigation season, cruise motor ships and liners regularly run along the river, and river trams go to neighboring towns. Here you can go on a trip along the Volga on a small motor ship or rent it for a party, banquet, wedding, business meeting, or group excursion.
There are several entertainment venues in the river port building: restaurants, cafes, and nightclubs.
