The Protestant Christ Church in the northern part of Innsbruck is visible from afar - or rather, not the church itself, but its bell tower, rising 100 meters above the main building.
Christ Church is the main Protestant church in all of North Tyrol. There is a relatively small number of parishioners here - about 4000 Tyrolean Protestants, most of whom live in Innsbruck. The parish was established in 1876, and Christ Church was built in 1906. It was located right in the center of the village, which later became part of Innsbruck.
The church bell tower building is constructed of white and gray stone, with arched windows. In its central part there is a large tower clock, and the structure is crowned by a huge spire covered with red tiles and making up no less than a third of the total height of the structure. The building's appearance clearly reflects the Gothic style.
Inside, there is not as much space as it may seem from the outside: this is a small church for a small parish. The interior decoration is quite modest - you can see stained-glass windows, a sculpture of the crucified Christ, a marble altar, and carved icons here. However, the church has an "extension" in the form of a monumental bell tower, making this structure one of the most striking and colorful architectural sights of Innsbruck.
