Having visited the Salzburg Marionette Theater at least once, you will forever give up the idea that this is a primitive art for children and that nothing here is serious. Known throughout the world, the theater often goes on tour, takes part in numerous festivals and competitions, and gathers thunderous applause.
The secret of the theater's success lies in its unique puppets, created at the beginning of the 20th century by the sculptor Anton Aicher, who was obsessed with the idea of giving an artificial "body" the greatest possible realism and teaching it to convey human emotions and movements. The result was stunning marionettes, for which it was later decided to organize a theater specifically. As early as 1927, the Marionette Theater, which had gained popularity in Salzburg, set off on its first tour. The repertoire that these delightful "artists" perform on stage is also important. These are quite substantial works - opera, ballet, dramatic and comedy performances.
Of course, it is also interesting for children, who are usually impossible to make love classical opera or ballet, but they are delighted by "The Marriage of Figaro" or "The Magic Flute" performed by marionette puppets, so entire families often come to the theater.
