The Aker Brygge waterfront in Oslo is a very popular place for relaxation and walks, which appeared relatively recently, just a little over thirty years ago, but has become beloved by all residents and visitors of the city.
In the past, here on the shore of Pipervik Bay, there were shipyards and a dreary industrial zone. But in 1982 the shipyards closed, and the newly rebuilt district turned into one large center of recreation and entertainment. Some old buildings remained, new ones appeared, creating the special image of Aker Brygge, unique and unforgettable.
The wooden promenade descends in steps right to the water, where small private and sightseeing boats are moored. Comfortable benches are installed everywhere so that you can rest, chat with friends, or read a book.
Shopping centers are located along the waterfront; prices here are not the lowest in Oslo, but most tourists come here not for shopping. To have a meal or drink coffee, visit one of the many restaurants or cafes. A restaurant on a barge looks especially interesting, offering magnificent views of the bay.
Residents of Oslo often come here with their whole families to spend the weekend in comfort, sit in a cafe, or simply stroll along the waterfront to the music of street ensembles against the backdrop of the gentle lapping of the bay's waves.
