The largest Orthodox church in Berlin, located in the western part of the city. It was built in 1936-1938. In the architecture of the cathedral, one can notice motifs of Novgorod architecture of the 11th-12th centuries, as well as a few Yaroslavl motifs.
The interior of the church is very beautiful, and the iconostasis is of particular interest – long ago it was brought to Berlin from an old Russian church in Warsaw.
The cathedral received its name in honor of the Resurrection of Christ. It is the main church of the Diocese of the Moscow Patriarchate in Germany. And quite recently, the Berlin authorities gave in to persuasion and handed the cathedral over to the Moscow Diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church, so this place can now confidently be called a little piece of Russia in Germany.
