The Berlin Wall Museum Checkpoint Charlie is located next to the checkpoint of the same name. Its exhibition tells the story of the famous wall and the lives of people on both sides. Here you can learn about cases of successful and unsuccessful escapes, and how families were separated and reunited.
The museum itself and the surrounding blocks have preserved the atmosphere of the times when Berlin was divided into two parts. Even the informational signs marking the boundaries of the American sector remain. The Checkpoint Charlie checkpoint itself has also been reconstructed, and you can see what everything looked like back then. Very little of the wall itself remains now, but you can walk along the metal strips in the asphalt that precisely trace its boundaries.
The Berlin Wall Museum Checkpoint Charlie is incredibly interesting and educational; here you can find much that you will not encounter on the pages of school textbooks. All the material presented in the museum is the Germans' view of this, frankly speaking, not the happiest page in their country's history.
