The main focus of Kluuvi Gallery is the experimental and non-commercial works of Finnish artists. Here they offer help in the implementation and display of those projects that would not be able to make it into the more official and traditional exhibition spaces of Helsinki.
This concept has found approval and support among the city authorities: unlike other galleries, Kluuvi does not pay commissions on the sale of paintings and operates on extremely favorable rental terms. The gallery itself is under the patronage of the Helsinki Art Museum, whose specialists coordinate the work of Kluuvi.
But support for artists' unusual vision does not mean that just anything can be exhibited here simply because someone considers it art. Every year, more than 150 emerging creators apply to Kluuvi Gallery, and only 15 of them pass all stages of the selection process and receive space for their own exhibition.
One artist's exhibition usually lasts 1-3 weeks, so you can visit this gallery once a month and always discover something new, fresh, and unusual from the world of art.
For 2015, Kluuvi Gallery announced a move to new premises in Tennispalatsi, where there will be even more exhibition space.
