Museum “Blindage” is located in a real German bunker, right underground. It measures 42 m in length and 15 m in width. In March 1945, the command headquarters under the leadership of General Otto Lasch was located here. Even at that time, everything in the bunker was equipped with electricity, communications, sewage, and air conditioning systems.
After the storming of Koenigsberg by Soviet troops in April 1945, Otto Lasch's command post was destroyed and flooded. For several years this place was abandoned and unused. But in 1968, it was decided to open a museum here dedicated to the dramatic events that preceded the end of the Great Patriotic War.
The interior of “Blindage” recreates an authentic wartime setting. Original documents, plans, diagrams, and objects from that era are kept here. You will be able to visit the private office of General Otto Lasch and the office of the chief of staff of the German garrison, Colonel Suskind-Schwendi.
Here you can also study several dioramas connected with the heroic capture of the supposedly impregnable Koenigsberg by Red Army troops.
