This building is a rare example of neoclassical architecture in Kaliningrad. It was built in 1916 and is a five-story structure with laconic forms. The facade is adorned with six columns, above which a pediment is located. The structure has the shape of a quadrilateral with a large inner courtyard.
Originally, organizations responsible for the mail, telegraph, and other communication services of Königsberg were located here.
During the Great Patriotic War, the building of the Supreme Postal Directorate was severely damaged, especially the interior premises, where fires raged and even caused the roof to collapse. But the external damage turned out to be not so significant, so the building was gradually restored and given over to the needs of military departments. It is now home to the headquarters of the Baltic Fleet of the Russian Federation.
The monument to Peter I in the square opposite the central entrance was installed in 2003 as a tribute to the founder of the Russian fleet.
