"Ekiyat" traces its history back to 1934 - it is one of the oldest puppet theaters in Russia. Several generations of Kazan residents remember and know its kind fairy-tale productions. Many performances here were staged in two languages - Russian and Tatar - so that every audience member without exception could understand them. Well-known playwrights and writers worked for children here: Nuritan Fattakh, Nabi Dauli, Ravil Bukharaev, Boris Vainer, Flera Tarkhanova, and many others.
In 2012, a landmark event took place: the "Ekiyat" puppet theater received a new building for its productions - a fairy-tale palace whose very appearance takes your breath away. It has towers adorned with colorful domes, sculptures of fairy-tale characters, and many decorative elements. During the construction process, sketches drawn by little children were used, so it can be said that the palace is a child's fantasy brought to life.
Inside, the theater is very spacious and cozy. Children can comfortably watch performances in two halls designed for 250 and 100 seats. The repertoire of the "Ekiyat" puppet theater is diverse, but first and foremost it is intended for children: "Cheburashka," "Buratino," "Little Red Riding Hood," "The Fly Tsokotukha," and other immortal works delight young audiences with engaging plots and colorful design.
