On Nikitskaya Street, you can spot an interesting building that combines the Art Nouveau and Classicism architectural styles. This is the Real School, built in Vladimir in 1908 based on the design of the famous architect P.A. Vinogradov. The facade of the building is adorned with two sculptures by A.A. Aladyin; they depict two Russian scientists - D.I. Mendeleev and A.G. Stoletov. The neat three-story building is crowned with two semicircular pediments above the entrances.
Originally, students could receive a specialized secondary education here with a focus on natural sciences and mathematics, which was necessary for further admission to technical and higher educational institutions. After the October Revolution, several institutions occupied the building: a women's seminary, the Practical Institute of Public Education, the Teachers' Institute, and during the Great Patriotic War, a military hospital was located here.
At present, the building of the Real School belongs to Vladimir State Humanitarian University, and its pedagogical and philological faculties are located here.
