Vladimir Historical Museum is famous for the number and quality of its exhibits. Huge collections of authentic antiques and artifacts are presented here, most of which have been magnificently preserved.
The journey into the world of history begins with the hall dedicated to the Sungir Cro-Magnon site. During the construction of a city factory in 1955, workers found burials that scientists determined to be 25 thousand years old! The best items from the 70 thousand discoveries made by archaeologists are presented in the exhibition of the Vladimir Historical Museum. At the Sungir site, many objects made of mammoth bone were found - ornaments, tools, children's toys...
In the next halls, you can examine relics from the period of the Baptism of Rus', as well as artifacts from the times when Vladimir was the capital city. The exhibitions on the second floor cover later history, from the XVII century to the middle of the last century.
The theme of Orthodoxy is inseparably connected with Vladimir. Not only did the great Baptizers of Rus' live here, but the famous icon painter Andrei Rublev also worked here. Separate displays in this museum are dedicated to his work.
Much attention here is devoted to the history of outstanding Russian dynasties, in particular, the Romanov family and the tragedy of 1917.
