Before you is a temple complex consisting of five separate structures. Some of them are Buddhist, some are Hindu. All of them were built in the 12th century, but under different rulers.
Преа Питу is not the most visited place, group tours are almost never held here, so the temples are not in the best condition. Some of them, one might say, are completely ruined. Since the true names of these five temples are unknown, archaeologists agreed to designate them with Latin letters: U, V, T, X, Y.
Temple T, for example, is a three-tiered pyramid with stairways on different sides. Its height reaches 6 meters. Around it is a wall measuring 45*40 meters. At the top of the pyramid there was a sanctuary, inside which stood a lingam. On its outer side, in some places, images of apsaras and devatas have been preserved, who were considered courtesans of dazzling beauty.
About 30 meters from it stands temple X. Its base measures 40*40 meters, and the height of the platform is almost 4 meters. At the top is a two-tiered sanctuary with false windows. Four axial staircases lead to it, along which statues of lions once stood. On the walls, you can see ornaments depicting Buddha.
The other temples are also located not far from one another. Their architecture has a mixed style, but each of them deserves special attention.
