I hope readers will forgive me for straying somewhat from the topic of sights. Questions of accommodation and lodging in the Eternal City are in fact no less pressing a topic than exploring churches, fountains, and basilicas. A hotel is a place for sleep, rest, and regaining strength before a new day of sightseeing. And peaceful sleep and a hearty breakfast play an extremely important role during even a short stay in the capital of Italy. But let's agree, the price of a double room in season should be no more than 15 000 rubles. Therefore, such unquestionably wonderful and luxurious hotels as, for example, Hotel Palazzo Manfredi Relais & Chateaux, unfortunately, do not fall within the selected price range. Nevertheless, other very worthy accommodation options can also be found.

With a prayer in your heart: Residenza Paolo VI
Among all the hotels of the Eternal City, Residenza Paolo VI has a special status and a special atmosphere. It is named after Pope Paul VI and has an amazing history (which the hotel staff will gladly tell you about). Residenza Paolo VI is located in the building of a former monastery right by St. Peter's Square, that is, practically in the very heart of the Christian world. Special mention should be made of the rooftop terrace with a panoramic view of St. Peter's Basilica. Here, to the sounds of classical music, it is very pleasant to spend an evening admiring the Vatican illuminated by lights. Interestingly, due to its special territorial status (belonging to the Vatican), the city tax traditionally charged in Rome is not levied on guests. The hotel offers rooms in a classic style and a solid buffet breakfast. All guests note the friendliness of the staff and the warm, almost homey atmosphere.
All-out luxury: Sofitel Rome Villa Borghese
You can stay in lavish luxury in Rome for quite reasonable money. The cost of a room at the exclusive luxury-chain hotel Sofitel is "only" 11-15 thousand rubles per night. Any sensible person, regardless of social status and wallet size, always compares the price level and the merits of a hotel. And the merits of Sofitel Rome Villa Borghese can be listed for a very long time. Exquisite interiors of modern rooms, Hermes toiletries in the bathroom, a location in a prestigious area by Villa Borghese park, impeccably trained staff, a stunning view of the Eternal City from the terrace - this is far from a complete list of the hotel's advantages. If, after tiring and impression-filled walks around Rome, you dream of relaxing in an atmosphere of luxury and relaxation, you can confidently book a room in this hotel.
With a pool and a view of the Colosseum: Mercure Roma Centro Colosseo
It is probably no secret that in summer Rome can be unbearably hot and stuffy. Therefore, the presence of a pool in a hotel is considered an undeniable advantage. Among all the hotels in Rome that can "boast" pools, I would single out Mercure Roma Centro Colosseo. There are a number of reasons for this. First, the view of the Colosseum is priceless. One of Rome's most grandiose monuments is clearly visible from the rooftop terrace, where the pool is located. On request, the room windows can also face the Colosseum. Second, almost all travelers note the hotel's excellent location. Free Wi-Fi, as goes without saying, is available. And finally, compared with many other hotels in Rome, the room price (about 7000 rubles per night) is quite reasonable.
With an original design: Radisson Blu es. Hotel, Roma
Those who like staying in unusual, original, or even extravagant hotels can be recommended Radisson Blu. This five-star hotel costs about 8 thousand rubles per night, offers decent breakfasts, has a pool, and is within walking distance of the center. But it made this list for a completely different reason, namely for its original and quirky design solutions. I will say right away, not everyone likes them, and many criticize the hotel because it is indeed distinctive.
For example, the shower in the rooms is located in the middle of the room and separated from the rest of the space only by a curtain. The sink is at the head of the bed. And that is not even mentioning the other designer armchairs, side tables, multicolored lighting...
In addition, the hotel's proximity to the station should be noted. On the one hand, this is convenient for organizing trips to other parts of Italy. On the other hand, it may cause some inconveniences typical of stations, such as noise, bustle, and commotion near the hotel.
Ultra-budget option: Dimora Al 36
The Dimora Al 36 hotel, operating on a bed-and-breakfast basis, makes it possible to organize a trip to Rome even with a very modest budget. The cost of a double room is about 4 000 rubles per night. At the same time, the quality of accommodation is very good: this is a new, clean hotel with free WiFi throughout its entire territory. The room area starts from 25 sq.m, which by Italy's standards is exceptionally spacious accommodation.
The hotel is conveniently located for sightseeing around the city, with a metro station nearby. It is in immediate proximity to Rome's main Termini station, so it is ideal for those who plan to travel out of Rome, for example to Florence, Siena, or Naples. Trains from the airport also arrive at this station. At the same time, the hotel is free from the bustle and commotion of the station area, as it is cleverly hidden away in one of the backstreets of the Eternal City.
