Updated for 2026: Xinglong remains one of Hainan's easiest hot-spring getaways. Expect a mix of resort pools, spa add-ons, and day-use options, with quieter visits usually easiest on weekdays.
Hainan's volcanic landscape has given the island plenty of hot springs, and Xinglong is one of the best-known places to enjoy them.
About 120 kilometers from Haikou, Xinglong sits among coconut groves and coffee plantations, which gives the whole area a laid-back, tropical feel.
The mineral-rich water ranges from comfortably warm to seriously hot depending on the pool. A soak here is all about unwinding; if you have any health concerns, it's wise to check with a doctor before spending time in very hot water.
Two pools offer fish therapy, where tiny fish gently nibble away dead skin for a mix of light exfoliation and a curious little foot massage.
Several hotels in the Xinglong area have their own thermal pools, along with spa treatments, jacuzzis, saunas, and Chinese medicine centers. If you still want something more active, you can also find golf, bowling, and tennis nearby.
The nearby botanical garden is worth adding to the plan as well. After the steam and mineral pools, a slow walk among tropical plants and fragrant flowers makes a calm, easy finish to the day.
