The Laem Sor temple complex is well known for the beautiful pagodas located on its grounds. These pagodas are called «chedi» and are a characteristic feature of Thailand's religious architecture. Chedi, or «stupas», resemble a bell crowned with a sharp spire pointing toward the sky.
Wat Khao Pagoda is located 300 meters from Laem Sor Temple. Once abandoned, after a recent restoration and full reconstruction it looks brand new, showing off its snow-white forms against the blue sky and the green jungle foliage surrounding the entire Laem Sor complex.
To reach the pagoda, you need to walk a little west of the temple along a path, up the hill, then farther up the stairs – and you will see Wat Khao in all its splendor. Around the pagoda stand golden sculptural images of the seated Buddha, and right in front of it the Buddha is depicted reclining – perhaps in this way he is preparing to enter nirvana.
Nearby you can see several other sculptures – Buddhas, dragons, and other mythological figures of Buddhism.
From the top of the hill, breathtaking panoramas of the turquoise bay open up, and even the nearby islands are visible. The place is quiet, as it lies far from the traditional tourist routes, so no one will disturb you as you enjoy the magnificent Thai architecture and the surrounding nature.
