Koh Samui is known for its picturesque waterfalls, which look especially impressive during the rainy season and for some time afterward. Among the island's most visited and beloved waterfalls are the Na Muang Waterfalls.
There are two of them, and the Thais did not trouble themselves too much with coming up with original names. The first waterfall is called Na Muang and consists of a single straight stream of water 18 meters high.
The second is named Na Muang 2, and it is much larger than the first - a full 80 meters of magnificent cascading waterfall. Foamy white streams rush down the textured multicolored rocks, surrounded by the bright, lush greenery of tropical plants - a beautiful sight!
On its way down, Na Muang 2 forms several stone bowl-like pools where you can swim in crystal-clear cool water. If you are not in the mood for a swim, you can hike up to the source of the waterfall.
The mountain trail is quite challenging, and the ascent will take about half an hour. Your effort will be rewarded with a stunning view: at your feet flows the powerful stream of the waterfall, and beyond it stretches a spectacular panorama of Koh Samui.
The Na Muang Waterfalls are a rather busy tourist spot, so on the way to these natural beauties you will find quite a lot of cafes, restaurants, fast-food stalls, souvenir shops, and other attractions for tourists.
The most interesting attraction in the area is the Elephant Show and elephant riding. Those who do not want to climb onto the backs of these noble giants can simply feed an elephant bananas, pet it, and take photos at the elephant riding camp.
