The smallest wildlife sanctuary in Goa covers only 8 square kilometers and will be especially interesting for families with children. The area is crossed by the two rivers Madhel and Rangao, creating the most beautiful natural landscapes.
When the sanctuary was established, a ruined temple and ancient stone slabs depicting gods were discovered. Images carved in stone are called petroglyphs. Now these historical exhibits can be admired right here, in the park jungle.
However, Bondla Wildlife Sanctuary is most famous for its flora and fauna. Unique animals, birds, and fish live among the exotic vegetation. You can see Malabar giant squirrels and Indian peacocks, palm martens and reed cats. The mini-zoo features dangerous and predatory animals - snakes, crocodiles, bears, lions, panthers… In the safari park, deer and Indian sambars - the largest of the local deer - live in natural conditions.
In the sanctuary, you can ride elephants and visit a themed educational center. There are also formal parks on the grounds, such as the French and English ones, where the trees and lawns are trimmed in the style of each country. There is also a botanical garden with a huge plant collection.
For eco-tourism, stationary cottages are provided, you can travel around the sanctuary by local transport, and the best way to observe the animals is from towers specially designed for this purpose.
