Here you can buy everything your heart desires: retro records and jewelry, outfits and tableware, coins and spices, literature and home textiles. Silver from Nepal is especially valued. Surprisingly, clothing from quality brands that have offices in India is popular.
The market has an interesting history. It emerged in the 60s, when hippies from all over the world, captivated by Goa's endless beaches and spirit of freedom, flocked there. Lovers of a free-spirited life needed to earn a penny somehow, so they started selling personal belongings and making things with their own hands. Nowadays, the hippies have been replaced by both native residents of India and Tibetans and Nepalese.
Head to the market in a good mood. Even if they quote you a price three times too high, do not get angry. It is a theater where the traders act as the chief directors, and all that remains is for you to play along. As you bargain prices down, stay positive, - first of all, for yourself, so that good memories remain.
If none of the goods appeal to you, your trip will still not be in vain! Dances and fire shows are staged between the rows, magicians put on performances, and interesting ethnic dishes are sold from the stalls. The main warning: keep an eye on your bags, theft is common here.
