This is one of the hundred tallest waterfalls in the world and the fifth highest in India. The name Dudhsagar literally translates as "ocean of milk" and is associated with a beautiful legend.
Once, there stood an amazing palace here where a beautiful princess lived. She often bathed in the lake beneath the waterfall, and after her bath she drank milk from a precious pitcher.
One day, a young man began peeping at the girl from the thickets, and, to conceal her naked body, she poured the milk into the water. Since then, the water in the lake has not been clear, but milky. A seething stream of "whipped" water, like creamy foam, flows down the mountain gorge.
This natural jewel is located in the protected forest of Bhagwan Mahavir, through which you can ride in retro jeeps. You will have to cross more than one river before you reach one of the most beautiful attractions of Goa.
The waterfall is 310 meters high and is divided into several levels, the total length of which is 603 meters. A railway runs above the water cascade, and trains occasionally pass along it.
Huge exotic fish swim in the body of water beneath the lake. Prepare to meet begging monkeys, but bananas will not impress them. The favorite treats for macaques are, oddly enough, tomatoes and onions.
