You can't change the meeting place - that is what should be said about the Swiss square Bourg-de-Four. Historically, this corner of the city has become a traditional place for romantic dates, business meetings, and get-togethers with friends in cafes. The owners of the latter claim that the terraces of the local establishments offer the best view of Geneva.
Historians explain the popularity of this place by the fact that in the past there was a crossroads of ancient roads here, greeting visitors with a lively market set up by the Romans. Later, Protestants persecuted by their neighbors gathered here. To this day, buildings from the 16th-17th centuries, an 18th-century fountain, and an old cobblestone pavement polished to a shine over the centuries have been preserved here. It is from Bourg-de-Four Square, as the center of the Old Town, that it is best to begin a tour of Geneva.
Don't forget to stop by Promenade de la Treille as well - a popular meeting place not far from Bourg-de-Four, and be sure to sit on perhaps the largest wooden bench in the world - it is 120 meters long!
