Palazzo Antinori is another architectural gem of Florence. This small building with a magnificent inner courtyard is on every tourist's must-see list.
The palazzo dates back to the 15th century; it was built in 1461-1466 for Giovanni di Bono Boni, but due to financial problems the construction was never completed. The house was sold to the Martelli family, who 30 years later resold it to Niccolo Antinori. The new owner actively took up the restoration of the building and its decoration. This is how the inner courtyard and the garden with a terrace appeared.
You can go inside on weekdays. Visitors will be shown interiors with paintings, sculptures, antique furniture, and tapestries. The city's oldest restaurant, "Bucca Lapi", operates on the first floor; it was opened in 1880. At "Cantinetta Antinori" you can taste magnificent Tuscan wines - the Antinori family has a rich winemaking history.
Externally, the palace is a three-story building with arched windows and a stone facade. In the center is the Antinori family coat of arms. The front door is located not in the middle, as usual, but slightly to the side. It is said this was done so that when leaving the house, the owners could see the enormous dome of the Duomo.
