Karon Beach is one of the largest and most popular beaches of Phuket. Its length is about 6 kilometers, and a coastal highway runs along the beach, on the other side of which there is an uninterrupted row of hotels, cafes, restaurants, and massage parlors.
Karon is considered a very clean, well-kept, and beautiful beach, loved by both young people and families with children. The reason tourists love Karon Beach is its snow-white, fine, and perfectly clean sand and the sea of an incredible turquoise shade with whitecaps on the waves. Due to the high quartz content in the beach sand, it produces a melodic crunch underfoot. For this, the locals call Karon the “singing beach.”
On the southern side of the beach there is a small but very beautiful coral reef with bright tropical fish and various kinds of plants. This part of the beach is extremely popular with those who enjoy diving or snorkeling. A little farther from the shore, surfers catch the waves.
Both surfers, divers, and other vacationers should keep in mind that in the summer, “rip currents” arise on Karon that pull even strong swimmers out to sea. They are marked with red flags, so if you see a flag sticking out of the water, it is better to stay away from it.
