This viewpoint is one of the most visited on Phuket and offers a magnificent view of the three most beautiful beaches - Karon, Kata, and Kata Noi. Apparently, because of the many viewing points, the authorities still cannot settle on a final name for the viewpoint, having changed it more than once already.
This place has been called both Kata Viewpoint and Karon Viewpoint - the latter name is now written on the official sign. Meanwhile, the locals do not reinvent the wheel and have long used one name: Khao Saam Had, which translates as "Mountain of Three Beaches."
At different elevation levels on the viewpoint there are two large beautiful pavilions surrounded by benches. From both observation points, splendid views open onto bays with white beaches, the azure endless sea, and the emerald greenery of the coastal tropical forests. In the distance, beyond the curves of Phuket's shoreline, Crab Island - Ko Pu - can be seen.
Near the viewpoint there are several cafes and restaurants offering Thai and international cuisine. What could be more wonderful than combining a delicious lunch with contemplating the beauty of exotic nature from a bird's-eye view?
During the daytime, local vendors at the viewpoint offer handmade souvenirs. There are also stalls selling soft drinks and traditional fast food here.
