The Chinese arrived in Пхукет long ago, when tin mining on the island began to develop at an industrial pace. Since then, they have managed to assimilate here and become part of the local history and culture. Elements of Chinese culture can be noticed everywhere - in street names, architecture, temples, and other attributes of their presence. So that people could simply and unobtrusively study how ordinary Chinese lived in the territory of Пхукет, in 2010 on Краби Street the Тай Хуа Museum - the Museum of Chinese Life - was opened.
The museum building, constructed in 1934, is a two-story mansion in the Portuguese-Thai style, which previously housed a school for the children of Chinese emigrants. The structure is very beautiful and is itself of historical value, so in 2008 it was entered into the register of protected cultural heritage monuments of Сиам.
The museum exhibition consists of simple things that win you over with their naturalness. These are household and cultural items of Chinese people living in Пхукет and working in tin mines under harsh conditions. There are no luxury items here, since ordinary people could not afford them, but you will see many black-and-white photographs, documents, religious artifacts, and sculptures. In the museum courtyard, it is impossible not to notice the huge bucket used to scoop tin ore.
