The sculpture depicting the bird Garuda with the god Vishnu seated on it is not yet completed, but has already become one of Bali's landmarks thanks to the incredible scale of local architect Nyoman Nuarta's vision. It is expected that the 150-meter structure weighing four thousand tons, with Garuda's wingspan of more than 60 meters, will become one of the largest sculptures in the world.
All this grand splendor is located in Garuda Wisnu Kencana Park, on the Bukit Peninsula in the southern part of Bali. The park covers 250 hectares and, besides the sculpture of Vishnu on Garuda, there is much more to see here. On the grounds there is a theater where every evening you can attend a colorful performance with dances, songs, and bright traditional costumes.
In the evenings, everything here breathes magic, with lights and beautiful illumination all around. The elements of the future Garuda sculpture scattered throughout the park are impressive - even in this form they look mysterious and monumental.
The park also hosts various exhibitions and has indoor and outdoor galleries, a souvenir shop, restaurants, and other entertainment and educational venues. To make it easier to cover long distances in the park, you can rent a Segway.
