Animal lovers will be delighted to visit Bali Zoo. It is the very first local zoo, opened in 2002 near the village of Singapadu. Construction began in 1996 on the initiative and with the funds of Ida Anak Agung, the Raja of the Gianyar district, who, unfortunately, died in 1999, never having seen in his lifetime the wonder he created.
The zoo turned out simply wonderful and quickly became a popular leisure spot for all local residents and tourists. Conditions have been created here for the animals that are as close as possible to their natural habitat.
You will be able to see lions, tigers walking in spacious enclosures, crocodiles and alligators in the ponds, wild boars, elephants, monkeys, and other cheerful representatives of the fauna – toothy, beaked, crawling, jumping, and flying. Some animals here belong to rare or endangered species: Sumatran elephants and tigers, Malayan bears, binturongs, orangutans.
Many animals and birds that are safe for visitors roam freely around the grounds. For a modest fee, you can feed an animal you like with your own hands and take a photo with it. The zoo is designed in a jungle style, so once you immerse yourself in the kingdom of plants and animals, you will easily forget that civilization is bustling somewhere nearby.
