Eka Karya Botanical Garden stretches along the shore of Lake Bratan, next to one of Bali's most famous temples, Ulun Danu. The garden cultivates and protects more than 1200 species of exotic plants from countries all across Asia and the world, including some endangered species. The collections of 84 narcotic and medicinal herbs, 320 species of orchids, and a magnificent rose garden, which even has black and gray roses, are unique.
Exotic plants feel wonderful in Eka Karya thanks to the garden's unique climate: the temperature here does not exceed 25 degrees, and unexpected tropical downpours often occur (so it would be a good idea to bring a raincoat or umbrella on the excursion).
Eka Karya is famous not only for the fairy-tale beauty of its flowers and trees. Everywhere here you will come across carved stone arches and parapets in the traditional Balinese style. The garden's widest alley introduces visitors to the heroes of the Ramayana, a monumental ancient epic. Statues of mythical ancient Indian heroes are frozen in dramatic poses of eternal struggle or celebration of victory over an opponent. Monstrous creatures and deities virtuously carved from stone seem as if they are about to come to life and continue their epochal battle.
The botanical garden also has an amusement park for active and athletic visitors. At TreeTop Adventure Park, more than 70 challenges of agility and fearlessness await you. Make your way through a maze of bridges stretched between the trees, climb a spider web up to an observation platform on a tall ancient tree, and ride the Tarzan swing for the full experience.
