On the island of Phuket near Rawan Beach is one of the most unusual museums in the world: there are probably no counterparts to this unusual collection anywhere else. The fishing industry is very well developed in Thailand, so the Thai people preserve and honor what is valuable to them both economically and aesthetically. Even such seemingly simple things as seashells are regarded with respect by the country's residents.
The collection of the Seashell Museum features several thousand "homes" for mollusks of such diverse shapes and colors that it is hard to believe they are real. Visitors can see fossilized specimens that are several hundred million years old, huge shells weighing two hundred kilograms, precious pearls, and bright seashells.
There are three floors in the building in total, the exhibits are very well cataloged, and the tours are accessible and easy to understand. It is very quiet and peaceful here, and you can comfortably enjoy the natural masterpieces created by nature. The pride of the museum is the world's largest golden pearl weighing 140 carats.
In the souvenir section, you can buy a seashell you like as a keepsake or as a gift. Jewelry and pearl изделий made by local craftsmen are also sold here.
