Jesada Technik Museum is the story of how a Thai boy's dreams became reality. The founder of the museum, Jesada Deisakulrit, had been fascinated by cars since childhood, and as an adult, during business trips to Europe, he unfailingly visited every technology exhibition. That is how he came up with the idea of founding a museum devoted to rare automobiles in his homeland, in Thailand.
The birth of the museum can be considered the acquisition of its first exhibit. That honor went to the German Messerschmitt KR200 microcar, purchased at an auction in Switzerland.
Over the next ten years, Jesada assembled about 500 more pieces of machinery, and in 2007 he opened his collection to the public. In the museum's name, the seemingly illogical letter “k” was borrowed from the name of the famous German transport museum “Technik Museum Speyer”, which once inspired the collector.
In the museum, the vintage automobiles look brand new; many of them are even in running condition and regularly take part in rallies and outside exhibitions. In addition to cars, Mr. Jesada somehow managed to acquire several helicopters, airplanes, and buses. Rumor had it that he had his sights set on a submarine, but something did not work out.
There are always crowds of children at the exhibition, but there is plenty here to interest adults as well, especially if they are even a little into technology.
