This is an open-air museum featuring remarkable buildings from all over Thailand, some of which are authentic and the rest reduced-scale copies.
"Ancient City" is one of the largest theme parks in the world, and it is practically impossible to explore it on foot, so you need to get around by transport. As you might expect, the transport here is unusual too: a sightseeing tram runs through the park. For those who are more drawn to walks without fixed routes, electric cars and bicycles are available for rent.
Although this city is not real, it was built according to all the rules: there are fountains, sculptures, bridges, and even a floating market here. Here you can see royal palaces as well as peasant houses, Buddhist temples, and pagodas. There are more than 100 scale models in the park. Moreover, each of them can be explored from the inside. Just keep in mind: by tradition, before entering a Thai house, you should leave your shoes at the threshold.
The open-air museum was created with funds from Thai millionaire Lek Viriyaphant, who invests the money he earns in the development of his native country's culture and the preservation of its traditions. This attraction is located 33 km from Bangkok, and the easiest way to get here is by taxi.
