Thailand's Prime Minister Kukrit Pramot was virtually a national hero of the country. A direct descendant of King Rama II, he was in power only briefly, for about a year, but significantly influenced the history and fate of his homeland.
An educated young man, at the very beginning of his career he served as a cultural expert in the American film «The Ugly American», where he had to play the role of the prime minister of a fictional country. Twelve years later, this story came to life, only then he became the prime minister of a very real country - Thailand. The diplomats of his government managed to establish working relations with the PRC and begin negotiations on the withdrawal of troops connected with the Vietnam War from the country.
A philosopher, artist, actor, and talented writer, Pramot was always in the spotlight. The intellectual leader left a great legacy to his country – as many as 80 public foundations. And his house, once surrounded by paparazzi, is now under the sights of tourists' cameras every day.
Pramot's house is a museum in which its owner collected fascinating antique objects. Ceramics, books, furniture, Buddha statues… The collection consists of five traditional teak houses connected to one another. Their interiors can be admired endlessly. The serene garden with a pond surrounding the museum deserves special attention.
