The Museum of Olympic Glory opened its doors to visitors on July 6, 2006. Olympians had been nurturing the idea of creating such an institution for more than 10 years. And its collection began to take shape back in the 1980s, with the first harbinger being a sculptural exhibition donated to the museum by the Burevestnik sports community.
In the three exhibition halls, visitors can see the national flag of Belarus that has been to Everest, the Olympic torches of 1980 and 2006, philatelic and numismatic collections — more than 23 thousand exhibits in total.
Museum guests can learn about the history and development of sports and physical culture in Belarus, find out more about the role of the IOC in reviving Olympic culture, and the achievements of Belarusian athletes at the Summer and Winter Olympic Games, in which they have participated since 1952.
The creators of the museum are Olympic champions, fencer Elena Belova and freestyle wrestler Alexander Medved.
