The idea of building the Palace of Culture in Kuala Lumpur arose back in the 60s of the last century. And only at the very end of the 20th century was the Palace of Culture, or Istana Budaya, finally opened in Malaysia. It immediately became one of the symbols of the Malaysian capital and the most important theater venue not only in the country, but throughout Southeast Asia.
The Istana Budaya stage is never empty - operas, concerts of classical and popular music, musical theater performances, and other shows are constantly held here.
The area of the palace complex is more than 50 thousand sq.m. The design of its royal boxes is unique - they can accommodate more than a thousand people at the same time. In addition, the palace boasts the most modern equipment, and that is why it is among the top ten most technologically advanced theater halls in the world. The Palace of Culture in Kuala Lumpur is often even called a competitor of London's Albert Hall.
