Another example of the heritage of British colonists in Kuala Lumpur is St. Mary's Cathedral. Built in 1895, it is a fine example of the early period of English Gothic architecture. The main adornment of the cathedral is an antique pipe organ. It was created by the famous organ master Henry Willis in 1898. Incidentally, he was the one who made instruments for such famous organ halls as St. Paul's Cathedral and Albert Hall in London.
The interior of the cathedral corresponds to the traditional style of Anglican religious spaces - the white stone walls are decorated with beautiful ornate windows with multicolored stained glass. The atmosphere in the cathedral hall is peaceful and solemn.
In the past, services were held in the cathedral for English colonizers, who after Mass usually went straight to the Royal Selangor golf club, which is located quite close to the cathedral. Now there are many local parishioners from different ethnic groups of the country here.
