The Petrosains natural science museum will be interesting both to those who have already forgotten their school physics and chemistry lessons and to children who still have yet to memorize boring rules and formulas. In this interactive museum, you can easily and enjoyably study the basic laws and phenomena of physics, see simple examples of complex chemical reactions, and learn a lot about prehistoric animals and their habitats.
The museum is located in the Petronas Twin Towers; you will find the entrance on the 4th floor of Kuala Lumpur City Centre, while Petrosains itself occupies the 4th and 5th floors of both towers, covering an area of about 6500 sq. m.
All the museum's installations and exhibits can and should be touched; most of them you have to switch on or start yourself, thus taking part in the demonstration of scientific experiments. Next to each exhibit there is an instruction sign, and it is, of course, written in English, so it is advisable to bring a dictionary or a knowledgeable friend if you are not comfortable with English yourself.
At the Petrosains museum, you can watch how optical illusions work, see an incredibly beautiful shadow theater with your participation, play interactive games, and explore the history of oil extraction and the use of gasoline. The installation in the form of an oil platform and the fascinating exhibition dedicated to the importance of using this fuel in the modern world are a tribute to Petronas, Malaysia's largest oil and gas empire, which founded this museum.
