One of the most notable symbols of modern Dubai is Clock Tower Square, located in the bustling Deira district. At its center stands a large sculpture in the form of a clock tower, which gave the square its name.
The clock tower was installed in 1964, and in 1972 it was reconstructed because the sculptural composition was at risk of collapse.
There are many stories and legends associated with the tower, because its architecture is quite unusual when compared with classic Dubai development. The most widespread and interesting legend says that these clocks were presented to the then Dubai Sheikh Rashid by Queen Elizabeth herself.
