Dubai can be very different – at once archaic and modern, classical and vivid, traditional and outlandish, unhurried and supersonic… And the side from which you see this citadel of the Middle East depends only on your preferences, because everything here is arranged to fulfill any desire.
You can feel the true spirit of Dubai's exoticism by taking a leisurely ride across the Creek in an “abra” boat. The views that open up along the shores captivate and enchant. For example, it is simply impossible not to notice the ultramodern structure that amazingly seems perfectly suited to the idea of Arabian aesthetics. This is the building of the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry, built in 1993 to a design by Nikken Sekkei.
The exterior of the building consists of transparent blue-glass facades that form sharp, simple geometric shapes symbolizing a yacht cutting through the waves of Dubai Creek. In addition to its unusual design, another remarkable fact is that the Chamber building was awarded the first certificate in the Middle East confirming that the structure was completely safe from an environmental standpoint.
Functionally, this building serves as a workplace for 700 people; it also contains an international conference hall for 200 people, meeting rooms, as well as impressive offices for senior management.
