The watchtower Burj Nahar, located in Deira, is interesting both from a historical point of view and as an architectural landmark. It was built back in 1870, and was once part of a complex of watchtowers intended to protect the city from possible invasion. Burj Nahar was supposed to prevent threats from the north and east, but gradually turned from an important element of coastal defense into an equally important attraction.
Nowadays, the area around the tower is a very beautiful and picturesque place - a magnificent garden where both local residents and guests of Dubai enjoy walking. The watchtower itself looks very colorful, as if great battles took place here only yesterday. Burj Nahar, both simple and majestic at the same time, preserves memories of Dubai's difficult history, having lived through what is now the subject of legends and myths.
The tower is located relatively close to the international airport, and all further excursions around Dubai can begin from this area, because it is here that a piece of the true history of the emirate is preserved, from before the city was filled with luxurious hotels and skyscrapers.
