PUB is Stockholm's oldest department store - it opened its doors to visitors back in 1882. The abbreviation in the name is nothing more than the initials of the store's founder: Paul Urbanus Bergstrom. This man was the first to place a bet on goods from Swedish manufacturers - designer clothing and home goods.
Today, PUB department store, located on Hötorget square, is a place where you can find a kind of mix of modern and vintage items, and this applies to everything - not only clothes, but also perfumes, cosmetics, designer interior pieces, jewelry, records, books, and much more.
Despite the rather modest appearance of the buildings occupied by PUB department store, this architectural project received the prestigious Swedish industry award named after Kasper Salin in 1963.
An interesting fact: there is a story that Lenin's legendary cap was bought at PUB department store. It is also claimed that Lenin's Swedish like-minded supporters bought him a suit here as well, the one in which Vladimir Ilyich returned to Petrograd.
But the department store's real fame was brought by a girl named Greta Lovisa Gustafsson. At 17, she came to work in the local hat department, and it was with advertising videos for PUB that her career began. A few years later, the young department store saleswoman became the famous film diva Greta Garbo.
