Emirates Golf Club, rightfully considered one of the best in Dubai, opened in 1988 and became the first golf club in the Middle East to have a grass surface.
On an area of 5500 sq.m, there are two 18-hole courses — “Wadi” (translated from Arabic as “valley”) and “Majlis” (Arabic for “meeting place”). In addition, there are tennis courts and areas for squash, billiards, a swimming pool, sporting goods stores, a yoga and aerobics hall, a gym, and, of course, bars and restaurants. A distinctive feature of “Emirates” is its architectural style - the golf club buildings resemble Bedouin tents in the desert.
The “Majlis” course has 6 artificial lakes that serve as hazards for half of the holes on the course. Regularly, starting in 1989, one of the main stages of the Dubai Desert Classic golf competition — a contest for professional European golfers — has been held here.
The “Wadi” course, opened in 1995, also abounds in numerous water hazards and sand traps. On both courses, anyone interested can take golf lessons with an instructor and, to some extent, become acquainted with this elite sport.
