Salsali Private Museum opened quite recently — in 2011. The initiator of its creation was the Iranian collector Ramin Salsali, whose name the museum bears.
Salsali is located in Dubai's industrial zone, Al Quoz — an area known for its galleries opened in former warehouse spaces. In particular, this collection is unique in that it is the country's first private museum of contemporary art — both international and Middle Eastern.
The museum's exhibition space displays works by world-class contemporary masters, including Meret Oppenheim, Catherine Bernard, Niki de Saint Phalle, Daniel Sperry, Erwin Olaf, Daniel Richter. The Salsali collection also contains many works by contemporary Middle Eastern artists, among them Panthea Rahmani, Farzan Sadjadi, Mona Hatoum, Kambiz Sabri, Ayman Baalkadi. In total, the collection includes more than 500 works — photographs, paintings, sculptures, and video installations.
