On one of St. Petersburg's busiest tourist routes, there is a cozy and quiet art cafe where you can have some tea and relax. And the local residents - about 20 hospitable cats - will gladly help you with that. Here you will be greeted by amusing big-eared sphynxes, fluffy Persians, energetic bobtails, a funny short-legged munchkin cat, and even two magnificent Maine Coons with the sonorous names Hemingway and Freya.
The Republic of Cats even has its own aristocracy - these are the "Hermitage" cats, which once lived in the Winter Palace and now grace the sofas in this cafe, a branch of the Museum of Cats.
To visit the cats, you will need to get a visa at the entrance to the cafe. There you can also buy food for the big-eared and tailed residents to lure them over and settle them on your lap. You can touch, pet, scratch behind the ears of, and listen to the contented purring of all the kitties, if, of course, they allow you to.
The "Republic" combines the functions of a place for tea drinking, an art gallery, and a library. Paintings hang on the walls, and sometimes exhibitions by artists and sculptors are even held here. In the CAToteca, you can pick up a themed book to read or watch a film about your favorite animals. And here you can also measure your height or weight... in cats! There are special scales and a measuring chart for this. And, importantly, Wi-Fi, tea, and cats are unlimited here ;)
